I’m María from Madrid, everyone calls me Mary. I’m a Forestry engineer. I’m an enthusiastic of Wood material. I love nature but the thing I love the most is travelling and meeting different cultures and ways of living.
Sure I had been abroad but the non-stop travelling and dreaming with it began with a roadtrip in 2006 from Milano in Italy to Bled in Slovenia stopping in a couple of cities on our way there and after that, something changed in my mind. I really get interested into travelling more and more. I joined an organization at the University and we travel to Forestry Meetings once a year. Every time was in a different country. After that, I joined another organization kind of famous in Europe. As I started to know people on my trips, some of them invited me to hometowns. That way I got to know some places like Romania as well as the lovely Istanbul, and fortunately not as a typical tourist, going with local people made me know places that I would have missed without them.
I’m interested in languages as well. Yes, I know, my english could be better, but I’m trying to improve and this blog is a good starting. I started to learn Finnish in 2009, such a beautiful language, difficult but not impossible. Last six months I’ve been working as a field assistant at the Oulanka Research Station at the Oulanka National Park in Northern Finland with the CIMO program which promotes the Finnish language and culture and I have learned a lot. It’s not the first time I’ve been living in Finland. I studied with Erasmus Programme in Finland too at the Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences in the Pieksämäki campus on 2009-2010. I like to think that Finland is my second nation. I connect very well with the people and I have so many good friends.
